Finally *drum roll please*
I finished...
painting
furnishing
cleaning
and sewing and hanging stuff
(in) (for) the bedroom.
Wanna see the results?
Originally I wanted to paint the walls peacock blue. Yep, I knew it was risky but I also originally planned on keeping every thing else in the shades of white with some natural wooden items thrown in.
Then I had a talk with a shop assistent at the store who told me those bold colors aint gonna happen with mineral colors. So I chose to go with charming lilac. But as you can see the final choice was white. And green. Originally I even wanted to paint one wall mustard and the other ones white but since it's the bedroom and my boyfriend insisted on deciding on a more calming relaxing color I had to come up with a way to incorporate some green/mustard eye-catchers. Hence the colorful triangles.
The curtains were made by me. I just cut some bed sheets from IKEA (I liked the pattern) and sewed it into a curtain. Which was a heck of a lot work. But it definitely paid off. I like the mix of the white-and-red curtains with the green-mustard-triangle wall.
The one on the left is a painting I made a few months ago. I will post about it soon.
I especially love the wreath. It adds a totally different vibe to the wall and is a great contrast to the frames. The artwork in between are some carvings of my great-grandpa I found at my granma's house.
The old record player is a contribution from my boyfriend's grandpa. And the reason I love it so much is because I can listen to the LPs I chose to every stinkin' time I want (because it's in the bedroom since my boyfriend is a busy bee and otherwise would get distracted) - plus I can be lazy laying in bed listening to the birds tweeting outside my window.
Out of all the rooms in our appartment I think it's my favourite.
Especially since I put more work into it then I did with the other ones.
Which basically means that during the day
I can practically call it my own.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Jay,
ReplyDeleteYour room turned out great. I have sloped eaves ceilings as well. They can be quite tricky to decorate around.
I followed you over from the 1929 Charmer linky party. I would love if you stopped by my blog.
Thanks for sharing and keeping decorating!
Laura
Oh wow! What a great space! I love all the colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up last week.. Im featuring you tomorrow :)
Thank you so much. We have sloped ceilings in our living room too and the main thing I hate about it is that it drastically reduces the place available to hang artwork.
ReplyDeleteHeading over to your blog. :)
How exciting! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks so relaxing and dreamy, I especially like the art work on the walls. I made some art for my bedroom it says 'the sun couldnt rise without, darling' its a bit daggy but I just love it. We can be a bit daggy in our bedrooms anyways, there all about us and our private space
ReplyDeleteI love it! I really like your curtains... and the lantern :) You know me, I'm a sucker for all white decorating!
ReplyDeleteBoth from IKEA. :) Yep, I knew you'd like it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's always the pieces of art we made by ourselves that we love most. (Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment)
